Kipawa soccer academy pick key lessons from Germany tour

Kipawa Soccer Academy returned to the country on Tuesday after a two-week football tour in Germany, where players and coaches gained valuable exposure to one of the world’s leading football systems.
The delegation’s visit was made possible through support from FC Kaiserslautern, Felsenland Resort and Schächter Sports Group, who combined efforts to deliver a well-organised and impactful programme.
During the tour, the Nairobi-based academy trained under professional conditions at Kaiserslautern, where they were introduced to the discipline, structure and tactical approach that define German football.
The sessions gave both players and coaches a rare opportunity to test themselves in a high-level environment and learn new methods of training and match preparation.

A major highlight of the trip was attending a competitive Bundesliga 2 match between FC Kaiserslautern and Eintracht Braunschweig on April 24. The academy members experienced the excitement of a live professional game, with the electric stadium atmosphere helping them better understand the demands and intensity of top-level football.
Beyond Kaiserslautern, the group also visited other clubs and training centres, gaining a broader perspective on how football development is structured in Germany. These visits allowed for an exchange of ideas and offered practical lessons that the academy hopes to apply back home.
Throughout their stay, the team was hosted at Felsenland Resort, where they had a supportive space to rest and bond as a group. The environment helped the players stay focused while also building team unity away from the pitch.
The entire programme was coordinated by Schächter Sports Group, whose planning ensured the tour ran smoothly and achieved its development goals.
Kipawa Soccer Academy founder and former Kenyan international Sammy Ouali described the experience as highly valuable.
“This experience has exceeded all expectations. To see and feel the German football philosophy up close has been inspiring. It will have a lasting impact on how we approach development,” he said.
