Ruto: No rank, office or region will stand in the fight against corruption

President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to unite in the fight against corruption, saying no title, rank, office, or region would shield anyone from accountability.
Speaking in Kapsabet, Nandi County on Saturday, August 30, during the installation of Catholic Bishop John Lelei, Ruto said Kenya could only make meaningful progress by ending division, tribalism, and graft.
“If we work together and eliminate corruption, theft of public property, and divisive politics, we will transform this nation. And I am confident, believe in the greatness of this country,” he said.
His remarks come on the back of establishment of a multi-agency team to fight corruption, comprising EACC, ODPP, the Asset Recovery Agency and other top institutions.

The president also weighed in on the closure of several health facilities by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council over regulatory violations, saying the institutions would be held accountable.

Turning to church matters, Ruto pledged government support to the new diocese.
“On behalf of the government, I assure you we shall work together to grow this diocese,” he said.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang congratulated Lelei, saying the county had long awaited his installation. He pledged to support the new bishop and thanked Uasin Gishu Bishop Dominic Kimengich for overseeing the faithful in Nandi since the death of Bishop Cornelius Korir in 2017.
Bishop Lelei said he was ready to serve. “I am grateful and ready to work. To my fellow bishops, when I knock at your door, kindly open and support me."
Ruto is expected to return to Nandi in October for a development tour to commission and launch projects in the county.
